Ultra Music Festival 2015 Miami
Ultra Music Festival 2015: It’s hard to believe that Ultra Music Festival, now in it’s 17th year, has been around for so long. For many that were there in the beginning, we’re sure that seems like a lifetime ago. But the countdown has begun and we’re just 28 days away from Ultra Music Festival 2015!
What started out as a one day event held in Collins Park in South Beach with just a few thousand attendees has turned into the worlds premier electronic music festival, having bombarded Downtown Miami with over 160,000 concert goers in 2014. However aside from being an absolute blast to attend, the music festival injects tens of millions of dollars in revenue to Downtown Miami and Brickell area businesses, hotels and restaurants, something most cities could only dream about. It’s comparable to having the Superbowl in your city ever year, and Miami welcomes it with open arms every year.
2014’s festival did see some controversy, however. On the opening day of Ultra a crowd of people stormed one of the security gates at the festival and trampled at least one security guard who was nearly killed, ultimately suffering a severe brain hemorrhage and a broken leg. In light of the unfortunate incident the city voted on whether or not the festival could continue in the city, with Ultra ultimately winning in a 4-1 decision (otherwise we wouldn’t be writing about it this year).
With a renewed focus on security and the safety of everyone working and/or attending the festival, Ultra Music Festival 2015 has put together quite the lineup for this year which include Tiesto, Avicii, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell, Skrillex, DAvid Guetta, Knife party, Eric Prydz, Paul Van Dyk, Carl Cox and Cedric Gervais. With the announcement of the phase 2 lineup within the last week it’s clear that Ultra Music Festival 2015 will have a larger focus on live acts than in any previous year, possibly hinting at what is to come in the years ahead.
With well over a dozen different stages, Ultra Music Festival 2015 is anticipated to be the biggest and best year yet for the festival. The festival takes place from Friday, March 27th through Sunday, March 29th in Downtown Miami’s Bayfront Park. This years festival will not permit minors. You must be 18+ to attend. Tiers 1 & 2 tickets are sold out, however Tier 3 tickets are still available for $449.95 which gives you general admission to each day of the event. 3 day VIP tickets are still available as well for $1,149.95. We urge all who attend this event to be safe in every sense of the word. Do NOT storm the gates again and jeopardize someone else’s life. Another incident like last year will undoubtedly jeopardize the future of Ultra in our city. Be safe & party responsibly.
This article is dedicated to Ultra Music Festival co-founder Alex Omes who passed away January 12th 2015. He was 43 years old. RIP.
