STORY Miami: A State of Trance – a phrase synonymous with literally every electronic music lover in every corner of the globe, even ones that may not be into trance. Why did we mention ASOT? Because it shows how the DJ who runs it has transcended genres and subgenres. The trance radio show was started in 2001 by dutch DJ Armin Van Buuren and boasts 20 million listeners in 26 different countries per week. You’ll be hard pressed to find another DJ with that kind of following on a radio show or podcast. Then you throw in the fact that he was #1 on DJ Mags Top 100 list an unprecedented 5 times, 4 of which were back to back. The 36 year old also blew many fans away at the end of weekend 1 of Ultra 2013 right here in Miami earlier this year. Simply put Armin Van Buuren is a megastar – and it’s reflected in his schedule. For example, most DJ’s have their tour for a few months and then they’re back in the studio – not Armin. As you read this Van Buuren has tour dates going into September……of next year.
