CW: What inspires you to be a motivational speaker?
My inspiration is to teach others that no matter your challenges you can still overcome anything you wish to. I don’t let my wheelchair get in the way of anything I wish to accomplish in life….I just make it happen!
CW: As a motivational speaker, who do you chose to reach out to and what is your message?
I like reaching out to anyone, but mostly teenagers because they’re at an age where they’re so vulnerable, and wish to act so cool around their friends yet they don’t understand the dangers it can cause in just seconds. One of my main messages that I like telling them is the dangers of Texting and Driving. It’s actually the number one cause of accidents amongst teenagers right now.
CW: Can you share with us a moment that has touched you while inspiring others?
I have a very soft spot for children, and when I see a child in a wheelchair it really saddens me, yet I see them with so much life and with smiles on their face that they inspire me instead of the other way around! It’s truly touching.
CW: What first inspired you to get involved in fashion?
I have always been into fashion since I was a little girl. It has always been a passion of mine, and I thought to myself one day,” Why not pursue a career in something I adore so much?” So I did, and I decided to go to school for Fashion Merchandising.
CW: You hold a degree in fashion merchandising and have a lot of experience in the field. Can you describe some of those experiences?
Yes, I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising. When I was just finishing college, I decided to intern for a Fashion Magazine called 944. The experience was amazing, and taught me so much I will never forget those moments. Just when my internship was about to end I was offered a position with them and started working right away. Overall it was my ultimate dream job because it was right up my alley.
CW: What’s your signature style?
Trendy, chic with a touch of classic.
CW: What trends would you like to see come back or not go away?
I feel trends are always coming back, but one trend I absolutely love is the classic 50’s vintage.
CW: What is your favorite weekend getaway?
And what items are a must to pack? My favorite weekend getaway has to be going on a cruise. A quick trip to the Caribbean is so refreshing and much needed from time to time. Items I must pack are: A sexy pair of heels and a little black dress, you can never go wrong.
CW: Who is your ultimate inspiration in life?
My ultimate inspiration in life is my mother. She’s the strongest and bravest person I have ever known, and I’ve become the woman I am today because of her. I don’t know where I would be today if it wasn’t for her dedication and guidance.
