Miami International Piano Festival is back in town May 16th – 19th with their ‘Discovery Series’ that includes Jorge Luis Prats of Cuba, Joseph Moog and Wolfram Schmitt of Germany, Rachel Cheung and Misha Dacic and Vladimir Markovic with an exclusive show that incorporates live music and painting rounding off the program.

Nikolay Khozyainov is an extremely talented 21 year old from Russia who was the 1st place winner of Dublin’s 2012 International Piano Competition who’s performance will mark his debut performance here in South Florida. Highlights from Nikolay’s performance will be from Sonatas by Beethoven, Prokofieff, & Liszt & the Barcarolle and Bereceuse by Chopin. Wolfram Schmitt is actually a full time Professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich, Germany and has been dubbed one of the leading pianists of his generation. Wolfram will be performing Chopin’s 24 Preludes Opus 29 and Mendelssohn’s Variations Sérieuses. Jorge Luis Prats will be adding some Hispanic and Latino flair to Isaac Albeniz’s “Iberia Suite and Misha Dacic will perform Scriabin and Mompou’s to inspire muralist Vladimir Markovic to produce paintings – live on stage – visual music if you will.
