Uncle Luke. A name synonymous with the mid 80’s and 90’s rap group “2 Live Crew” and the “Miami Bass” style of Hip-Hop during the same period. Miami Native Uncle Luke, who’s real name is Luther Campbell, first received notoriety as 2 Live Crews hype man on stage and later began a solo career which introduced Hip-Hop fans to such hits as “I Wanna Rock,” “The Birthday Song,” and a few others that we’re not going to mention. In his later life he became a columnist for our friends over at the Miami New Times, ran for Mayor of Miami-Dade county (coming in 4th out of 11, surprisingly enough) and even had his own TV show ‘Luke’s Parental Advisory‘ on VH1.
Tuesday, February 12th at Cameo you can see Uncle Luke back in action as he hosts the Mardi Gras edition of Lapdance Tuesdays. He’ll be alongside DJ Bulletproof, DJ Mummy and DJ Affect (who produced Pitbull’s record ‘Pause’ in 2011). This is a 21 and up event and tickets start at $30 and can be purchased by CLICKING HERE.
