David Guetta at STORY Miami April 24th
STORY Miami: Few DJ’s have permeated the mainstream culture like French DJ David Guetta. Getting his start back in the late 80’s/early 90’s the young Guetta had mild success in the Paris, France club scene. Then in 1994, in a move not seen too iften with DJ’s, Guetta became the manager of Le Palace, a Paris nightclub. Despite being active in the scene for many years, it wasn’t until his 2003 compilation F*ck Me I’m Famous was released that he started achieving notoriety.
Fast forward to 2009 when Guetta released his One Love album, the album many critics and fans alike credit to his mainstream success. Teo of the albums biggest tracks were When Love Takes Over and Sexy Bitch, both of which received significant play time in nightclubs across the globe. With 6 studio albums released, over 9 million albums sold and north of 30 million singles sold, David Guetta has proved himself a dominant force in the music industry, but hasn’t stopped there.
Guetta is also a sought after producer and remixer, having worked with the likes of Lady Gaga and The Black Eyed Peas. Guetta also wrote and produced on Rihanna’s album Unapologetic and even toured with the icon. Guetta’s album One Love was nominated for “Best Electronic/Dance Album” at the 52nd Grammy Awards, possibly (partly) due to the amount of collaborations he did with artists outside of his genre on the album. It may not have been his vision originally, but Guetta has become a man who can bring artists together to create music that knows no boundaries, regardless of their genres.
