Steve Aoki At STORY Miami: Just watching the above video makes us yearn for Ultra and Miami Music Week to be back, if only for the chance to get caked by Aoki. Steve Aoki, or Holy Aoki as we like to call him around the office, is a bonafide superstar in the electronic music circuit and beyond. Not only does this guy do the most outrageous things during his sets – like crowd surfing, caking people in the crowd and spraying what should be illegal amounts of champagne on everyone – he’s also a grammy nominated producer and is the founder of Dim Mak Records, which he founded all the way back in 1996. Fun fact: Steve Aoki was one of the top players on his varsity badminton team at Newport Harbor High in Cali.
It may be hard to believe it judging by his looks alone, but Steve Aoki is 36 – chalk it up to those amazing Asian aging genes. At 36 he is older than most of his constituents, although you couldn’t tell by his crazy on stage antics. Aoki is a fun guy who wants to have fun and knows how to have fun…which in turn makes his shows fun to be at, which makes all those attending have fun. It’s the beautiful circle of fun. The guy even has an awesome charity auction going on on Ebay where you can actually buy clothes that have been worn and/or signed by Steve Aoki himself! Currently on a tour that will be taking him from Panama, Las Vegas, Turkey, Japan and the Philippines, Steve Aoki has been kind enough to make sure he can make a special stop in a special city – who’s ready for Steve Aoki at STORY Miami!? On Sunday, April 20th (which is ironically Easter Sunday…and 4/20), Holy Aoki will be tearing it up at STORY Miami, a show we’re ecstatic to see.
