John Digweed has been around the house music scene for quite a long time, pushing 50 years old and DJ’ing since he was just 15 – 3 decades in the game. As you can imagine he has seen what works and what doesn’t, knows his music and has amassed quite a bit of knowledge in that amount of time. In retrospect, most up and coming DJ’s or established DJ’s are below the age of 30 or just passed 30 – the same amount of time Digweed HAS been DJ’ing. Which of course we all know Hardwell and Calvin Harris didn’t come straight out of the womb tearing up the 1’s and 2’s, although it doesn’t seem hard to imagine it.
Digweed’s career has lead him all over the world, regularly DJ’ing at famous London clubs such as Heaven and The Beach, while ultimately gaining residency at New Yorks famous club, Twilo, which ultimately shut down in 2001. From 200 to 2011 Digweed also hosted a 2 hour radio show with one hour of him playing and the 2nd hour a guest DJ. For most, John Digweed’s career has been largely under the radar, which it seems the former DJ Mag #1 DJ in the world is content with. He has been there long before most and his legacy will long outlive him, and he knows it.
With ULTRA and Winter Music Conference love in the air here in Miami, John Digweed is taking a break from DJ’ing at Carl Cox’s stage at ULTRA Music Festival and taking his talents to The Vagabond – a beautiful nightclub/music venue cloaked with warm inviting hues of blue paired with electrifying neon hot pink – Saturday, March 23rd. The venue is host to a slew of events throughout the week and isn’t just for DJ’s – they regularly host hip-hop, rock and local artist shows. An ‘all-inclusive’ venue as I would call it. Tickets are available now by [CLICKING HERE]. Just remember, rage responsibly.
