Skrillex at STORY Miami December 28th

Skrillex at STORY Miami: Whether you are a loyal dance music fan or not, chances are you know who Skrillex is. Born Sonny Moore, Skrillex burst onto the scene in 2009-2010 and climbed straight to the top. Like many of his fellow DJ and producer counterparts, Skrillex always had an intuition for music for most of his life, but it’s what genre he came from that many find most interesting.

Prior to employing the moniker Skrillex, Sonny was the lead singer for a post-hardcore band that went by the name From First to Last. They had some success, releasing two studio albums in 2004 and 2006. But for one reason or another, Sonny apparently wasn’t gratified and, in 2007, set out on his own for a solo career. Fast forward to 2011, without question his best year in terms of acclamation, Skrillex ended the year with 5 Grammy nominations (ultimately winning three of the five) which included “Best Dance/Electronica Album”, “Best Dance Recording” and “Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical”, was nominated for the BBC’s “Sound of 2012” poll and was named MTV’s Electronic Dance Music Artist of the Year. There were artists that had been in the industry for twice as long as Skrillex at that point that hadn’t received half the notoriety he did in 2011.

Now with his newly formed duo with fellow producer and DJ Diplo dubbed Jack U, Skrillex is clearly looking forward to the future and where he thinks his music will go. And judging by the single Take U There featuring vocals from Kiesza – we love where his music is going.
