Sander Van Doorn at LIV Miami October 2nd
LIV Miami: Any fan of house music or any of its numerous sub-genres knows who Sander van Doorn is. Or at least you should. And if you don’t, you’re not a true fan (hate to break it to you). Since 2004 Sander van Doorn has been gracefully mastering his craft – both in the production value and substance when it comes to his music. Having only released 2 full length albums in his career, van Doorn is a perfect example of “quality over quantity.”
Fast forward to 2008 and Sander van Doorn is up against the likes of Calvin Harris, Deadmau5 and Axwell for “Best Breakthrough DJ” during the International Dance Music Awards that are held during Miami’s Winter Music Conference. Here’s the ironic part – you’d be hard pressed to find a house music aficionado who doesn’t know all 4 of the names mentioned. But my guess is if I asked others to guess who won the award that year, they would probably say everyone but Sander van Doorn – which is quite remarkable. It’s not because he doesn’t deserve it. It’s because he is so low-key (I think). (He did win the award that year as well!)
So, so what Sander isn’t all about the limelight and spotlights being on him. He’d rather have it on his music, where it belongs. And that’s something that is extremely admirable in today’s “get famous quick & make as much money as you can while you can” world. Back in 2013 Sander even worked with Mark Knight (who, ironically, will be at Club Space 2 days after this event) on a project dubbed “TEN”, which ultimately skyrocketed to Beatport’s Top 10 chart.
On Thursday, October 2nd Sander van Doorn will be performing at LIV Miami along with resident DJ Mednas.
