Sultan + Ned Shepard at LIV Miami July 26th

     LIV Miami: Sultan + Ned Shepard sounds like some sort of hardcore death metal band, but it’s not. But of course you already know that. Sultan + Ned Shepard are masters of the progressive house music genre. Sultan, born Ossama Al Sarraf called the Middle East his home until 1996, living in Egypt and Kuwait among other places. It wasn’t until 1996 that he moved to Montreal to pursue mechanical engineering and business of all things. But it wasn’t long before he caught the bug while hitting the Montreal nightlife scene and began DJ’ing.

However it wasn’t until 2002 until Sultan + Ned Shepard teamed up, and the way they met is classic. Obviously they didn’t grow up with one another. They didn’t work at the same place. They didn’t go to the same college. One fateful night Ned Shepard actually saw Sultan perform and was able to give him a demo cd that he had been working on. The very next day Sultan called Ned, saying he wanted them to team up together. And the rest is history. But that type of meeting is rare nowadays, which makes it even more special in my book. Finally in 2008 the duo created Harem Records.

Currently on tour, Sultan + Ned Shepard will be performing at LIV Miami on Saturday, July 26th. LIV Miami resident DJ, Mednas, will also be in the building laying down some tracks.
