Red Hot Winter Wonderland 2013: Most residents of Miami know Mario Chalmers as the Miami Heat’s #15 wearing point guard – and that’s usually where the interest stops. But there’s much more to the 6’2″, 27 year old than meets the eye. Aside from being one of the driving forces in helping our Miami Heat win back to back championships (and hopefully clutching the Three-peat this season) Chalmers, originally born in Alaska of all places, is a family man with 2 kids and is the cousin of ex Clippers guard Lionel Chalmers. Digging deeper there’s one thing that Mario Chalmers does that really speaks to his character and how much he cares about children all across the United States – he has a charity, the Mario V. Chalmers Foundation.

What is the Mario V. Chalmers Foundation? Their mission statement on their website says The mission of the Mario V. Chalmers Foundation is to create and support community based programs that encourage the positive development of youth through sports and education and fund initiatives for breast cancer research and treatment. One of the Mario V. Chalmers Foundation’s major avenues of connecting with youth is the Mario Chalmers Miracle Shot Basketball Camp that takes place during the summer in Olathe, Kansas. The 4 day camp lead by Mario Chalmers and other teammates/players highlights the fundamentals of basketball in a constructive, yet fun way. The Mario V. Chalmers Foundation also has golf tournaments, the Think Pink Benefit for breast cancer and Mario’s Closet.

On Thursday, December 12th Mario Chalmers will be celebrating the holidays with his Red Hot Winter Wonderland 2013 event at the wildly popular Surfcomber Hotel in South Beach. Join Chalmers and other Miami Heat players at the Red Hot Winter Wonderland 2013 affair and snack on tasty hors d’oeuvres and take in the live entertainment as you sip on cocktails from the specialty open bars. A special custom dessert bar is also being set up thanks to our friends over at the TCBY & Mrs. Fields in Coral Gables and Mary Brickell Village! Warren Henry Auto of Miami will also be in the building showcasing some luxury cars at the event. Attendees are asked to dress to impress in red – which we shouldn’t have to explain. The purpose of this event is to donate proceeds from the event to the Mario V. Chalmers Foundation to help further their causes and give back to the community. So get in the holiday spirit while helping our youth at the Mario Chalmers Red Hot Winter Wonderland 2013! Pre-sale tickets are $150 and, if they’re still available, will be $200 at the door.
