Major Lazer, formerly comprised of DJ’s Diplo and Switch and now consists of Diplo and DJ Jillionaire alongside Walshy Fire, have quite the unique sound – a mixture of electronic, reggae, trap and moombahton – thanks to the varying cultural backgrounds of their members. Jillionaire is responsible for a large portion of the ‘tropical bass’ sound, a mash of indie dance and big room house intertwined with Caribbean influenced dancehall, that the band has. Jillionaire and Major Lazer even performed at the ULTRA Music Festival held here in Miami back at the beginning of the year. Jillionaire seems to spend most of his time touring in Europe, United Kingdom and New Zealand but has made the occasional trip to South Korea and Brasil. But aside from being a producer and DJ, Jillionaire also identifies himself as a filmmaker, designer and even a photographer. So I guess the old saying is true: Once an artist always an artist.

Saturday, August 3rd in The Basement of Club Space, The Jillionaire himself will be alongside DJ’s Chris Valencia and Radamas for another installment of BASE at Space put together by Miami’s own Red Rabbit Presents. And of course we assume you’ll be arriving to Base at Space after attending Red Rabbit and Just Recognize’s ‘Get Wet Get Wild’ pool party being held at FIFTY Miami – and just in case, [CLICK HERE] to more info on that event.
