Social media has paved the way to the future, no doubt about it. We live in a world where virtually every business utilizes social media to help expand their brands, where old high school and college friends reconnect with one another, where consumers do product and brand research before a big purchase and has even shaped the futures of entire countries and continents by fueling the revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt! Simply put, social media is all around us and is here to stay.
There’s also the fun side of social media where we network with other businesses and individuals, share our stories and experiences and just have a good time. Social media is all about bringing people together – whether it’s through a brand, a person or a common cause – the possibilities are literally endless. So what other event do people love that brings us together? If you guessed a cruise then you’re right! This event is so incredibly awesome it was hard for us to write this much without exploding! A social media cruise with the worlds first, and largest Sea Tweetup! Genius!
Norwegian Cruise Line launched their “Social Media Cruise and Sea Tweetup” last year, making this years cruise their second installment. The ship, the Norwegian Sky, departs from the beautiful Port of Miami on Friday, October 12th and whisks everyone away to our island neighbors to the south, the Bahamas. During the 3 day social media excursion there will be tons of activities (which ARE optional, but we encourage every to participate) for everyone to join in on. After all, it IS a social media cruise! And with rooms starting at UNDER $300 per person, it’s a steal – That even includes your meals on the ship!
On departure day, enjoy a beer and food pairing sponsored by MillerCoors after you get settled into your room then join everyone at the “Sail Away” tweetup and poolside BBQ. Or if you require a little more time to settle in, join in on the fun at the cocktail party where you will have the opportunity to meet everyone in the Sea Tweetup group, which kicks off at 7pm – the perfect time to have some pre-dinner cocktails!
The second day of the cruise is where everything really sinks in as you arrive at Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian Cruise Lines very own, private 250 acre island – complete with bars, restaurants, markets, water-slides, snorkeling, kayaks, jet skis and of course, beautiful white sand beaches. And that’s not even all the amenities on the island! So whether your style is to kick back in a hammock and relax or to be as adventurous as possible, Great Stirrup Cay has something for you. Then finish off the day by re-boarding the ship and enjoying a nice dinner starting at 8:30.
On the final full day of the cruise you will be docked in Nassau in the Bahamas, with the freedom to explore the island and indulge in all the wonderful activities the island has to offer until 2pm. Keeping in line with the social media theme from 2pm – 3:30pm there will be a tweetup at Senor Frogs which is conveniently right next to where the ship is docked. After the tweetup it’s time to board the ship to (unfortunately) head back to reality. But not before you treat yourself one last time to some cocktails as you engage in a round-table discussion about the cruise, social media and whatever else you can think of – all while sipping on some cocktails. Then it’s time for your final group dinner on the ship.
Monday is the conclusion of your cruise – or better yet, your experience. With new friends and memories that are sure to stick with you for the rest of your life, you’ll surely be back for the next one (hopefully you’ll be documenting your experiences on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram – It IS a social media cruise after all!) So don’t wait any longer, it’s right around the corner! Book your rooms now HERE or give them a call at 1-800-688-6414 extension 123!
