One of our favorite types of wine here at The Local Miami is the almighty Chianti Classico. With that said it should come to no surprise that we love reviewing them. As some of you may or may not know Chianti is made in the Tuscana (Tuscany) wine region in central Italy. The wine-making standards and traditions in this region date back thousands of years and is one of the most scrutinized. The 2007 Castello D’albola Chianti Classico is a brilliant ruby red that can, if aged properly, can add wonderful garnet hues. On the nose you’re flooded with bouquets of cherry and plum with nice floral notes. *Some may find a young Chianti a little overbearing, but with a little aging, the tannins soften up*
On the palate you get rich velvety smooth round tannins with raspberry, blackberry, cherry and some spice, making for a complex combination. The finish is nice and oaky with some spice lingering on the palate. Pairs perfect with heavy red meats, pasta dishes with red sauces, chicken and veal. Excellent wine with robust character that is sure to please even the most discerning wino in your life.
